Rocket League Championship Series

Also known as RLCS. The Championship Series is played in two regions: Europe and North America. Probably APAC will join in the near future comprising of Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The RLCS is the most prestige tournaments in Rocket League Esports. The top teams from each region end up competing against each other in the seasonal playoffs.

The top teams from each region qualify for the LAN finals, the finals are considered the Rocket League World Championship.

The reigning champions of RLCS are Gale Force Esports with Dogu, Kaydop, ViolentPanda and Turbopolsa. They took home $55,000 and the Season 4 title in November last year. The Swedish player Turbopolsa became the first player ever to win back-to-back RLCS championships.

Rocket League Rival Series

Also known as RLRS. This is a minor Rocket League series serving the RLCS as a second division. Both RLCS and RLRS run parallel to each other.

The setup is the same with two regions: Europe and North America.

The top two teams qualify for the upcoming season of RLCS. 3rd and 4th spot remain in the Rival Series while the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th need to re-qualify via open qualifiers to play in upcoming RLRS season.

The prize pool for Rival Series is significantly smaller, $25,000. The main driver for the participating teams is the chance to play in the Rocket League Championship Series.

Rocket League Rival Series:

Rocket League Universal Open

The Universal Open is the second largest Rocket League tournament. It differs from the other tournaments by being a 2-player and not the regular 3-player format.

Most of the top organisations compete in the Universal Open. Many low-mid tier teams and mix teams participate thanks to it being open for everyone across all regions.

The Universal Open Season 1 had a prize pool of $100,000 and was the first time we got to see a large 2-player Rocket League tournament.

Again we got to see GaleForce Esports with players Kaydop and ViolentPanda win. They took home $32,000 along with the Season 1 title of Universal Open.
